ReThread is a textile group I run in Cheshire. I currently have 7 ladies in the group, and would like to grow a little bigger, by adding two more places.

In September 2025  I launched ReThread, which is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 10-3 (except for December and August) at Bunbury Mill in Bunbury.

Every 6 months the group starts a new project, (March and September )  I guide them through the stages of research, how to sample and how to consider concepts before beginning a final piece, or a set of small refined final samples. There is no homework (only what each person wants to do, or has time for there is no assessment or exhibition. It’s purely a leisure group, the group is made up of people who enjoy being creative and have skills already that they are keen to stretch and develop in more depth.

So, each month they return with progress they have made independently at home and have one to one mentoring from me. I don’t specifically teach techniques but point them in the direction of techniques they may not have considered, or artists they may like to research. We have a WhatsApp group and share ideas. It’s very relaxed, it’s a safe space to explore being creative using techniques you are confident and happy with, hand or machine embroidery, printing, patchwork, quilting, but would like to expand on.

The group pay £133 per term. This is £40 a session over the 10 sessions per year. We divide the payment into 3 instalments, one at the start of each term.

Having lectured for 16 years in FE and been Qualification Leader for Art Foundation at Art College I am passing on the formats and processes used there, but without the deadlines, assessment or any stress at all.

If you would like to know more, or have any questions about the group via email do get in touch.
